My love of fynbos and proteas started when I attended the Kirstenbosch Garden Sale to buy plants for our garden in Hout Bay. It was then that I recognized the protea seedlings growing wild in our garden for what they were.
Since then I have given up my profession as a pharmacist in order to sell protea seeds to fynbos and exotic plant enthusiasts around the world. When I am not packing protea starter packs or fulfilling seed orders, I love to garden. I am growing various proteas from seed in pots, and our front garden is all indigenous fynbos.
I have recently taken up painting (oil and watercolour) and love painting pictures of fynbos flowers. Expect some of my work to appear on this site in due course.
I first came to appreciate fynbos when I attended a lecture on fynbos and proteas during a mountain leadership course. When Julie and I decided to buy the farm to grow proteas for the cut-flower trade, we came into contact with the beautiful Queen Protea (Protea magnifica). I posted a picture of the proteas on my first ever website, and soon was fulfilling orders for protea seeds from all around the world.
I am a web developer and while Julie is packing seeds or pottering around in the garden I work as a contractor building websites. This site is my responsibility, so blame me if something does not work.
